Sergii Shanin is eTeam’s CEO and co-founder, with over ten years of experience in the tech industry. eTeam focuses on building custom software for clients and partners. With a team of over 50 and growing, we caught up with Sergii about how he envisions Hirebook contributing to the team.

Situational Analysis

Since its inception, eTeam has always been on the cutting edge of technology. They pride themselves on efficiency and results - so it’s only natural that they’d reach a point where they analyze their performance systems and look for a way to increase productivity.

Enter Hirebook. eTeam rolled out the software to the company to achieve a few key objectives:

  • Increase transparency across the organization
  • Help employees receive regular feedback
  • Oversee the atmosphere in the company
  • Prevent toxic situations in teams
  • Boost individual engagement and empowerment through constant improvements based on the received information

Needs Assessment

eTeam has historically used spreadsheets to manage performance conversations between employees and managers. As the company became more intricate, they decided to bring in a human resources specialist to assist them with people-related situations. To empower this new leader, Sergii felt that it was critical to have standardized information in order to manage a higher number of employees.

Additionally, eTeam was experiencing difficulties coordinating conversations between employees and managers. As a technology company, they have a more flexible approach to scheduling in order to accommodate working practices. While this is beneficial to employee productivity, it’s not easy to make regular feedback happen.

As the workplace moves from the office into employee homes, eTeam joins other companies in strategizing on how to maintain engagement and strong communication channels.  With all of these items in mind, eTeam rolled out Hirebook software as a way to organize information and empower their employees to help them closer to achieving business goals.

Assessing New Software

When implementing any new software, eTeam has a set process:

  1. Define a list of requirements
  2. Conduct research on possible solutions
  3. Analyze cost/value propositions for potential solutions
  4. Check reviews about selected solutions
  5. Run a test trial for a small group
  6. If things go well, scale to the company.

By using this formula, they can be confident that they are implementing software that works well for key stakeholders in the company. Sergii is confident that Hirebook passes the test and provides the necessary structure to solve their pain points.

Building a Foundation for Success

Even when you thoroughly vet new software, you need to lay down a proper foundation to gain employee buy-in and engagement. Along with his leadership team, Sergii developed a process for gradually rolling out Hirebook to improve existing processes.

eTeam uses Hirebook’s check-in and one-on-one functionality to promote engagement among employees while encouraging managers to have more frequent conversations and create development plans. They continue to use Hirebook’s OKR features to track projects and ensure they are meeting team goals according to set deadlines.

The new HR leader will play a key role in analyzing and disseminating this information with team leaders.

Sergii says,

Hirebook is a good addition to the existing set of tools of the company. It is helping us to reinforce our company's values by shortening the feedback loop from our employees, providing historical trends, and strengthening relationships within teams.

Employee productivity and engagement are directly tied to strong communication lines between managers and employees, and now eTeam and Hirebook are partnering to bring those benefits to the organization at large.
