Cience is a tech-enabled service business that helps build sales funnels from a service, data, and software perspective.

We spoke with John Girard, CEO, about how they use Hirebook to improve their internal performance processes, strategic alignment, and employee engagement.

Cience: Making Data-Driven Decisions

Cience is an organization that prioritizes curiosity and data, differentiating them from other companies in the lead-gen space. They distinguish themselves as a brand that is very disciplined about data - using it to back their guesses and theories when creating strategy.

To date, Cience has worked with companies as large as Microsoft and Okta, down to startups working to establish product-market fit.

Over the last year, Cience has worked this data-driven methodology into their performance space. They recently switched to OKRs as their primary goal-setting framework after using a modified system to build up the muscle for leadership participation and buy-in.

While OKRs provide them with a more precise way to cascade strategy, they use Hirebook to tie in day-to-day actions and weekly check-ins to their individual & team meetings. Through Hirebook, Cience is solidifying its near, middle, and long-term thinking.

Managing Efficiently with Hirebook

Before moving to Hirebook, Cience was using spreadsheets to track important performance information, and it worked - up to a point.

The leadership team realized that if these initiatives were important enough to develop spreadsheets, there was an opportunity to do so more effectively. They concluded that having a dedicated solution built by experts would make it easier to conduct these key processes.

Although Cience started off using Hirebook for only their executive team, they immediately expanded to their entire 1300-person organization after experiencing these hugs benefits first-hand.

According to John, the most sophisticated part of the tool is the ability to asynchronously discuss performance without distracting employees and hurting efficiency. Hirebook’s solution allows companies to be proactive and intentio

If I want to add items to the agenda, I can do that, and we can comment back and forth and communicate on it asynchronously. That's incredibly useful -  because otherwise, those conversations are happening in email or Slack, not a dedicated space. This idea of a dedicated spot to hold, manage, carry forward, or close out the most important things that I want to have on my radar is incredibly powerful.

Propelling Further Success

Any company leader knows that you need data to propel your teams forward, but performance data varies depending on the role. Cience has found Hirebook’s vast experience to be invaluable as Cience determines how to best align, quantify, and iterate by role, team, department, and even by region.

With the leadership team of Cience able to look into every facet of the organization’s performance, they’re excited to continually improve employee progress and remove as many blockers as they can.

By having a solution that enables crisply defined goals combined with frequent feedback touchpoints, Cience aligns their values of data-focused curiosity with the world of performance management. They’re weaving them into daily work to have an easy reference system that shows that each person is working on and their progress, unifying every one of their 1,300 employees to push in the same direction.

Cience is already planning on using this new information to move the company forward to achieve their goals for the next year.

We’re happy to be a part of it.
